Davao Diaries: December 9, 2024

We got the entire small business ecosystem in a room. The yufin small businesses, our partner wholesaler, FMCG brands, and our yufin team all came together to talk, learn, laugh and also to cry.
That same evening, we crossed $3K in daily $GTV for yuOrders so it was everyone playing hard and working hard.
Looking back at the last two quarters, we grew the monthly $GTV and revenue 9X. It is still early days. Looking ahead, we are going to repeat this scaling in the 12 months of 2025.
You might remember Ate Josie, the small business owner with boundless grit and resilience but no smartphone as she had to sell it to pay back interest due to the informal money lender?
We had featured Ate Josie’s remarkable journey to build her own business earlier. See the link in comments section to know more about her inspiring story.
One of our investors got her a smartphone to honour her resilience. She is now using yufin on her own phone, not doing assisted-orders from our sales ambassadors. Just another example of how we do what we say.
Money, or vertical agentic AI, cannot win the trust of small businesses in emerging markets. To do embedded financing, one must be embedded in their lives.
“Human led, tech at the back”, as I had learnt from a wise group assembled by the YAN Fund six months ago in Lonavala.
