yufin’s New Feature Cuts Ordering Time From 30 To 5 Minutes

Old habits die hard.

When small business owners order their weekly supplies from wholesalers, we observed that one in five have the habit of scribbling their shopping list in a notebook.

These handwritten orders are then either used in-branch at the wholesaler while shopping for supplies, or sent over a messenger app to a call centre where a human transcribes them and sends a confirmation after a couple of hours, or dictated to a visiting sales agent, who then enters that order either in an app, or makes a voice note again on his phone!

The yufin team recognizes that old habits take time to unlearn.

So, we took the technology that reads a list of ingredients from a product label, or scans your receipts for expense filing, or analyzes your handwriting for emotions, and extended that to handle crumpled, partially torn paper and multiple languages, scratches and overwriting, multiple pages, and partial product names.

This month, we are launching our “click your hand-written shopping list to fill a cart” that will cut the ordering time for one in five merchants, and for half of our sales ambassadors’ assisted orders, from thirty minutes to five.

We are now at reasonable accuracy against our “yuOrder” product catalog of 5,000 items of the wholesalers that small businesses order weekly and will launch this later in November.

One more way how yufin is putting AI/ML to real, immediate benefit of small merchants in tier 2 and 3 cities, helping double their monthly earning.
